* Sri Lanka main opposition condemns government's air-defense system
Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 17:28 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) today condemned the air defense system installed by the Sri Lankan government for its failure to detect the rebel aircrafts yesterday.

Two rebel aircraft dropped bombs on the Kelanithissa power station in Colombo town and Thaladi Army camp in Mannar District.

UNP Member of Parliament, Dayasiri Jayasekara addressing the media said the LTTE has managed to infiltrate the air-defense system for the 7th instance and attack the capital of Sri Lanka.

“It is the government who identified these primitive flying machines and claimed to have destroyed the airfields in several locations. Yesterday these so-called primitive flying machines were up in the sky for almost two hours but the air-defense system was unable to find any of it,” he said.
