Oct 27, Colombo: Sri Lanka Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) warns that the crisis in Anuradhapura teaching hospital may extend to cause a country wide strike if the Ministry of Health does not take immediate remedial action.
The GMOA is protesting the Ministry for not appointing a permanent Hospital Director to the hospital which is considered very vital as it is the most sophisticated hospital situated close to the war zone. The doctors also protest the appointment of a dental doctor who they say less experienced in management to the post of the interim Director of Anuradhapura hospital.
The GMOA warns that the doctors of the North Central Province hospital will strike work from day after tomorrow (29) if their demand is not granted by tomorrow.
