Oct 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka Government Medical Officers' Association warned the government of an island wide strike if the murder of a medical officer is not probed and the culprits are not arrested.

The medical officer of Bandagiriya Central Clinic in deep South of Sri Lanka was shot and killed by an unknown gunman on Monday and the doctors of Hambanthota district are on strike since Tuesday.

Police sources say that the assailant is an Army deserter absconding arrest.
