* Quick thinking of a bus driver saves over 50 passengers in Sri Lanka

Oct 21, Anuradhapura : A Sri Lanka Transport Board bus driver attached to the Anuradhapura Depot in North Central Province today saved over 50 passengers in Kurundankulama, from a huge roadside tree that fell on the bus.

According to the bus driver M. S. Saheedu, a massive roadside Maara tree near the cemetery in Kurundankulama Anuradhapura fell on the bus in heavy rain at about 1:15 p.m. this afternoon.

Seeing the tree coming down, the driver had managed to move the bus just in time preventing the tree falling on to the middle of the bus.

Only one passenger was injured due to the incident while the front side of the bus was damaged severely.

Eye witnesses said there were over 50 passengers on board when the tree fell on to the bus.
