Oct 15, Colombo: Sri Lankan health officials say there is a possibility for epidemic diseases to spread in the country due to the prevailing rainy situation in various parts of the island.
Praba Palihawadana, Director of the Epidemic Disease Department of the Health Ministry said mainly Chikungunya and Dengue fever could be spread in the country with the heavy rains.
"In addition to these diseases there is a possibility to spread Diarrhea also," she added.
The Epidemic Disease Department urged the people to follow health instructions strictly to avoid the spread of diseases.
Past records reveal that in Sri Lanka various kinds of epidemic diseases had spread during each rainy season.
