* APC on Sri Lankan issue in Tamil Nadu

Oct 13, Colombo: An All Party Conference (APC) summoned by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu state in India, M. Karunanidhi will be held tomorrow (14) and the focus of the APC is the prevailing situation in Sri Lanka.

In a statement issued with regard to the APC, Chief Minister Karunanidhi said that the meeting would discuss various ways to mitigate the suffering of Sri Lankan Tamils and formulate a plan to press the center to take more action.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Minister of Foreign Affairs Rohitha Bogollagama has planned to visit India today and meet Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan.

FM is expected to explain the measures taken by Sri Lanka to address the humanitarian crisis in the North in the wake of military operations launched by the government to recapture Kilinochchi.

Meanwhile Senior Advisor to Sri Lankan President, MP Basil Rajapaksa said India’s main concern was about the civilians in the North and the issues faced by the fisher folk.

“We have already taken serious note of addressing these issues and if there are some shortcomings we will address them soon,” he said yesterday.
