Oct 11, Colombo: Sri Lanka Air Force MI-24 helicopter gunships today targeted an LTTE construction site at a location about 4 kilo meters northeast of the Akkarayankulma Tank bund in Kilinochchi, the military said.

Air Force Spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said today’s Air assaults targeting an LTTE construction site with heavy earth moving vehicles were launched in support of the advancing 57 Division troops.

Citing intercepted enemy communication, the Spokesman said a heavy vehicle believed to be an excavator used for the construction of earth bunds was completely damaged.
