Oct 10, Colombo: Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets launched air strikes against the LTTE reinforcement unit detected 12 km northeast of Nachchikudha this afternoon, the military said.
Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said the attacks were launched to support Army Task Force 1 operating in the western half of the Kilinochchi warfront.
In another air operation, fighter jets launched 4 air strikes targeting 3 vital encampments of LTTE Tigers this morning, spokesman said.
According to the defense reports, the first attack targeted an LTTE communication centre located 3 km northeast of Paranthan. The other two raids were aimed at an LTTE leaders' hideout located 2 km northeast of Kilinochchi town.
Another simultaneous air strike targeted a hideout of LTTE suicide bombers 1.5 km west of Paranthan.
Air Force spokesman said all targets were effectively hit.
