Nov 07, Colombo: Minister of Petroleum and Petroleum Development A.H.M. Fowzie said that he will take tough action against the petrol station owners who are not selling fuel at the reduced prices.

Speaking at a special press briefing in Colombo this morning the Minister pointed out that all the outlets must reduce the fuel prices with effect from mid night yesterday.

The Minister urged the public to inform the officials quickly if any petrol station is still selling the fuel at old prices.

Presenting the next year budget proposals yesterday Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa had reduced the fuel prices with effect from last midnight.

In Sri Lanka fuel price was one of the biggest issues in the past few months as the government refused to reduce the price in parallel to the global fuel prices.
