Sri Lanka::
* A new Muslim party against power devolution in Sri Lanka
Sunday, November 30, 2008, 5:50 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Nov 30, Colombo: A new Muslim party has been formed by Minister of Resettlement and Disaster Relief Risath Bathiyutheen.

The special feature of the new party is that it does not demand for power devolution, the popular trend among the minority parties in Sri Lanka, party sources said.

The new party is named Ahila Ilangai (All Ceylon) Muslim Congress and it will contest in future elections with the ruling United People's Freedom Alliance.

Bathiyutheen, the leader of the party says that the Muslims cohabited with other communities in all parts of the country in the past but lost their rights as results of power devolution measures like 13th amendment to the constitution.
