Nov 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka's state owned Sinhala Sunday newspaper Silumina reported that India had advised the Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe to resign from the post and allow a like of S.B. Dissanayake to come to the leadership.
Dissanayake, whose civic rights are in a questionable situation after a conviction following contempt of Supreme Court is said to be a close friend of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Referring to undisclosed reliable sources, the newspaper said that Indian leaders have pointed out that Sri Lanka should have a vibrant opposition for good governance of the state.
