Nov 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka Chief Government Whip, Minister Dinesh Gunawardhana said in the parliament yesterday that each of the 20 million Sri Lankans shoulders a debt burden of Rs. 163,425 state loans.
He said that Sri Lanka’s total debt is amounted to Rs. 3.201 trillion (US $ 29.7 billion) now and comprised of Rs. 1.816 trillion domestic debt and Rs. 1.385 trillion foreign debts.
The Chief Government Whip exposed these facts in the parliament in response to question posed by opposition MP Ravi Karunanayaka.
