* More civilians arrive at the checkpoint in northern Sri Lanka

Nov 22, Colombo: More civilians fled the LTTE controlled Wanni and arrived at the Omanthai checkpoint this morning seeking protection with security forces. Defence Ministry said 41 civilians in two groups arrived at the roadblock today.

The first group comprising 25 males and 11 females arrived at the roadblock around 8:00 a.m. The group had 9 children below 18 years and 11 youths below 30 years of age.

The second group of 4 males and one female of three families arrived around 12:30 p.m.

Both groups are residents of the Semamadhu and Nainamadu areas in Vavuniya district. They have been given food and medicine by the officials and directed to the welfare centers, military sources said.
