Nov 21, Galle: A tornado had touched down at Thilakaudanagama of Meetiyagoda in Southern Sri Lanka this afternoon.

Sri Lanka Disaster Management Centre said the tornado that hit the area at about 1:30 p.m. this afternoon damaged 37 houses in the area but there were no reports on injuries. Disaster Management Centre has no further details on this tornado.

Tornadoes are rare in Sri Lanka. There were reports of a tornado hitting the sea near Bambalapitiya in July but no damages or injuries have been reported.
