Nov 21, Colombo: Day to day activities of some hospitals in the North and East have been paralyzed for the third consecutive day due to absence of the Sinhala doctors.
The GMOA had decided to hold a special central committee meeting on Sunday (23) to decide on further activities regarding the security issue.
Dr. Upul Gunasekara, Assistance Secretary of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) said that the doctors who worked in the North and East hospitals will not go for the duties until the government ensures their security.
According to the sources the Out Patient Department and daily clinics in Batticaloa Hospital totally failed while the daily operations also had to be cancelled.
Same situation was reported from the Vavuniya Hospital as the Sinhala doctors decided to withdraw following the killing of Medical Superintendent of the Vavunathivu Hospital in Batticaloa last Sunday night.
