Nov 21, Colombo: Ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has appointed five nomination boards to choose candidates for the elections of five Provincial Councils.

The term of the Uva, Central, Northwestern, Southern and Western Provincial Councils are to be ended next year.

All the current SLFP Provincial Councilors also will have to apply for the candidature and they will be interviewed by the committees to consider their efficiency before granting them the candidature.

SLFP sources said that the competition for the candidature is high since the ruling party is preparing to contest the elections in a broad coalition.
