* Sri Lankan Minister appointed as President of the Conference of Parties to Vienna Convention

Nov 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Environment and Natural Resources Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka has been elected as the President of the Conference of Parties to Vienna Convention at its 8th Convention held in Doha, Qatar.

The Vice Presidency of the conference went to Canada. Environment Minister of Hungary Robert Toth was elected the President of the Parties of the Montreal Protocol, the Sri Lanka’s Environment Ministry said.

The 1985 Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer is aimed at mobilizing nations to take appropriate measures to protect human health and the environment against adverse effects of air pollution.
