Nov 20, Colombo: The convener of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party People's faction MP Mangala Samaraweera says that the government is waging a publicity war by depicting every junction captured by the army as a victory.

Speaking at a special media briefing held in Colombo this morning he pointed out while showing that the government is wining the war secret plans are underway to dissolve the Parliament by December 9.

"The Rajapaksa government is hoping to go for an early general election as agreed with the Indian government at this moment," MP Samaraweera said.

Mangala Samaraweera stressed that this government will go for a definite ceasefire after the general election pointing out that the government is planning all these secret projects while increasing the defence budget by 70%.

"We are ready to face any challenge with the main opposition United National Party, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and others,” he said.

Political analysts say the major opposition UNP with Samaraweera’s support is hoping to establish a broad opposition coalition to face a future poll.
