Nov 19, Colombo: An organization under the name Corruption Watch has been launched in Sri Lanka to look into the malpractices of the government and the politicians.
The first press briefing of the Corruption Watch was held at the National Public Library yesterday and prominent lawyer Shiral Lakthilaka chaired the news briefing.
Addressing the media Lakthilaka pointed out that that the Mihin Air directors and officials are enjoying Board of Investments (BoI) concessions regardless it is a company that went bankrupt after swallowing Rs. 3.7 billion of public money.
BoI concessions are usually provided to foreign direct investments but the Mihin Air had not drawn any foreign investment to the country, he said.
Addressing the media counsel Ravi Jayawardhena said that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation had lost a massive amount of public money through hedging. He said the Corruption Watch would sue against the authorities of the CPC to reimburse the public money lost due to this deal.
