Nov 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Election Secretariat says that interviews are underway to consider applications of 20 groups to be recognized as political parties.

Election Secretariat sources said that 17 groups were interviewed during the last few weeks as well but none of them qualified to be recognized.

Sri Lanka currently has 60 registered political parties.
