Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 14:31 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Nov 19, Colombo: The relief items sent by the Indian authorities are scheduled to be delivered to Vavuniya tomorrow morning.

Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka announced this evening that they will deliver these food and other items to the Vavuniya with the assistance of International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC).

ICRC hopes to dispatch the essential items among the internally displaced persons in Wanni after receiving the certificate on their security from LTTE.

Following the President’s senior advisor Basil Rajapaksa’s visit Indian authorities promised to send essential food and other items to the IDP's in Sri Lanka every year.

Under this joint process Indian authorities have send 1,680 tonnes of essential food items and garments this time. The ship carrying the relief reached the Colombo Harbor last Saturday.
