Sri Lanka::
* Sri Lanka says it may proscribe LTTE, before public demand
Tuesday, November 18, 2008, 14:54 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Nov 18, Colombo: The government may proscribe the LTTE even before there is an overwhelming public demand for it, Sri Lanka says.

A local newspaper quoting Sri Lankan Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka said that “The government may proscribe the LTTE even before the public ask for a ban on the LTTE.”

“In order to stop terrorism in the country, the public gave us a chance to govern the country,” the Prime Minister has said.

“Following the people’s request, we commenced our humanitarian operations starting from Mavil Aru and will continue until the final victory,” he said.
