* Foreign Employment Act to be amended in Sri Lanka

Nov 17, Colombo: Sri Lankan government has decided to amend the Foreign Employment act with immediate effect.

Kingsley Rodrigo, the Chairman of the Foreign Employment Bureau said that they have taken this decision to restrict illegal employment agencies from functioning in the country.

According to the Bureau sources most of the Sri Lankan recruits who work in various countries are facing serious problems due to these illegal employment agencies.

The Chairman pointed out that they are receiving many complaints on these agencies daily from all parts of the country.

Foreign Employment Bureau of Sri Lanka hopes to bring these amendments to the Act to safeguard the rights of the employees, the Chairman added.
