* Breakaway Tiger leader released from UK prison

May 09, Colombo: Breakaway LTTE leader V. Muralitharan also known as Karuna Amman, who was in prison in UK on immigration charges has been transferred to an immigration detention centre.

Former Tamil Tiger rebel leader would be remained in immigration detention in Britain.

Karuna was arrested few months ago in the UK for entering the country with a forged diplomatic passport. He had served half of his nine-month sentence after being found guilty of identity fraud.

Human rights groups want to try the breakaway LTTE leader for war crimes. British authorities however say it is unlikely that he will face charges for crimes against humanity.
