May 08, Colombo: Sri Lanka Marxist party, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) charged the government that its decision to prorogue the parliament has been taken to silence the opposition's voice, particularly against election violence in the Eastern Province.
Speaking at a media briefing yesterday, JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that apart from the election related violence, his party has planned to have debates on several economic issues such as failure of the budget airline, Mihin Lanka this week.
“You know that Mihin Lanka Company has become an airline without a single aircraft but with a 3.2 billion rupees loss,” he said.
The JVP was to voice against such frauds, corruptions and waste of public funds at the parliament tomorrow or day after tomorrow, the MP further told the media.
“The government wanted to silence this voice too. Thus, this government is showing some dictatorial behavior,” the MP added.
