May 07, Colombo: Leaden activity levels held the indices down. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) dipped 2.87 points (0.11%) to close the day at 2642.63 and Milanka Price Index (MPI) dropped 6.54 points (0.20%) to end the day at 3242.53.
Turnover for the day registered at Rs. 294.73 million. Conglomerate John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) was the star turnover wise as the counter contributed day’s highest of Rs. 55.42 million to total turnover. This includes a block of 360,100 shares been traded at a flat price of Rs. 117/-.
However Ceylon Glass Company PLC (GLAS) led volume wise trading 1 million shares within a price range of Rs. 2.30 and Rs. 2.50. Sierra Cables PLC (SIRA), Kelani Tyres PLC (TYRE) and JKH followed volume wise with 815,800 shares, 749,200 shares and 473,700 shares respectively.
Other top contributors for the day’s turnover include Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC (DIST) with Rs. 42.18 million, TYRE with Rs. 30.33 million and Nations Trust Bank PLC (NTB) with Rs. 13.32 million. Price gainers equaled to price losers numbering 61 each.
Foreigners were heavier on selling side to bring a net outflow of Rs. 17.60 million.
