May 07, Colombo: SriLankan Airlines is carrying out a unique Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project free of charge to develop the English language skills and personalities of young women who aspire to become flight stewardesses, but fall just short in the recruitment process.
The Language and Personality Development Programme is being carried out at the National Carrier’s International Aviation Academy (IAA) for those who reach the final stage of interviews and testing for recruitment as Trainee Flight Stewardesses, but are not admitted. Nineteen young women who had been identified as promising candidates underwent three months training.
The airline’s cabin staff has continuously gained fame for their high standards. SriLankan has won such accolades as “World’s Friendliest Cabin Staff” and First Runner-up for “World’s Best Cabin Staff.”
