May 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake today said that the countdown for the total elimination of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has begun.

Speaking at the emergency law debate in Parliament, he said the security forces have told him that this was why the Tigers are resorting to desperate tactics.

He also highlighted the need to battle organizations supportive of terrorism on the international front. Those who support terrorists, who regularly butcher innocent civilians across the country, must be stopped, he said.
