May 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said that some political leaders are making false allegations against the government to justify their next election defeat.
Speaking at a function held at Temple Trees, President said his government had already liberated the East from the terrorists and now restoring the democracy.
“Those who see their obvious defeats are making various allegations, some say there are armed groups and likewise. Let them say anything,” he said.
“In this country, only the security forces can bear arms, even in the South candidates are provided with the armed security. They are just looking for a way to justify their next defeat to their party members,” the President said.
President reiterated that his government would not give in to Prabhakaran’s terror and would continue to rid the country of terrorism. “There are leaders who drink whisky to enrapture on each bomb that set off in the South,” he added.
The function was held to mark the inauguration of the National Plantation Development Program, under the Plantation Ministry.
