Sunday, May 4, 2008, 15:08 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 04, Colombo: Responding to the Opposition's allegations on government backed armed groups in the Eastern Province, Sri Lanka's Education Minister Susil Premajayantha challenged the Opposition to provide proof for its allegation.

The Minister told media yesterday that none of the parties is engaged in election campaigns with arms and the Opposition can prove their allegation by a photograph or a video footage if they can.

Minister Premajayantha recalled that neither the UNP nor Ranil Wickremasinghe had wanted the Tamil Tigers to be disarmed at any of the elections held in the Eastern Province when it was still under the control of Tamil Tigers.
