May 29, Colombo: After several days of negative sentiments, the day opened positively bringing a boost to the market, but however was short lived and lost momentum to close once again on negative grounds.
All Share Price Index decreased by 14.13 points (0.56%) to 2,506.64 while Milanka Price Index too dipped by 7.39 points (0.25%) to end the day at 3,001.32. The turnover touched Rs. 553.5 Mn.
Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (SLTL) registered a crossing today with 4.33 Mn shares having changed hands at Rs. 49.00. This counter also topped both the volume and turnover lists with a turnover of Rs.237.43 Mn and 4.84 Mn shares. Another two crossings were made by John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) with a value of Rs.1.84 Mn at a price of Rs. 115.00. JKH also came in second volume and turnover wise after 1.89 Mn shares changed hands to post Rs. 217.04 Mn to the days turnover.
Lanka Ventures PLC (LVEN) and Tess Agro PLC (TESS) followed volume wise with 1.10 Mn and 0.94 Mn shares respectively. Other contributors to turnover were Environmental Resopurces Investment PLC (GREG) and LVEN with values of Rs. 13.18 Mn and Rs. 12.09 Mn respectively.
The price losers outnumbered the price gainers by 73 to 39. Foreigners turned tides today with heavier trading on the selling side bringing in a net outflow of Rs. 10.99 Mn.
