* Sri Lanka stock market stagnant lacking investor participation

May 26, Colombo: Sri Lanka stock market remained stagnant today with lackluster investor participation at the Colombo Bourse.

Both indices closed on a negative note with All Share Price Index plunging 13.75 points (0.53%) to close the day at 2572.03 while the Milanka Price Index slumped 45.92 points (1.47%) to end the day at 3076.42.

Turnover for the day registered at Rs.197.6 million. Colombo Fort Land and Building Company Ltd. (CFLB) topped the days turnover list with Rs.26.9 million. Sri Lanka Telecom, Environmental Resources Investment (GREG) and East West Properties Ltd. (EAST) also contributed to the turnover significantly.

CFLB proved to be the pick of the day after 970,000 shares changed hands at prices between Rs.26.75 and Rs.27.50. Other heavily traded counters for the day were EAST, GREG and Valibell Power Erathna.

Foreigners were more prominent on the buying side bringing the net inflow to Rs.10.1 million. The days price losers outnumbered gainers 61 to 43.
