May 15, Colombo: Sri Lankan Road Development Authority yesterday signed an agreement with China Metallurgical Construction Group to commence construction on the Colombo-Katunayake expressway, the government announced today.
According to RDA Chairman, M.B.S. Fernando, construction is to commence within the next two months.
The Chinese government owned company will be engaged in funding, planning, designing and constructing the 25.6 km long expressway at a cost of US$ 310 million. The expressway will be operational in 2012.
