May 15, Colombo: Describing Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE),as an unlawful association India has extended the ban on the outlawed terrorist organization for another two years.
Indian Home Ministry issued a notification on the ban on Wednesday (14) an official statement today said.
Media reports quoting Indian Home Ministry officials said the activities of the LTTE continued to pose threat, and are detrimental to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India as also public order.
LTTE was outlawed in India following the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991 by an LTTE suicide bomber.
