May 14, Colombo: Declined interest of investors closed the indices negatively as All Share Price Index (ASPI) lost 5.99 points (0.23%) to close the day at 2607.90 while Milanka Price Index (MPI) dipped 18.01 points (0.57%) to end the day at 3161.73.
Turnover for the day touched at Rs. 106.12 million. Vallibel Power Erathna PLC (VPEL)was investors’ favorite volume wise after 2.29 Mn shares changed hands in the counter within a price range of Rs. 2.30 and Rs. 2.40.
Conglomerate John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) witnessed the largest turnover for the day as it peaked the list posting Rs. 11.86 Mn after 101,400 shares been traded. Vanik Incorporation Ltd. (VANI), Pelawatte Sugar Industries Ltd. (SUGA) and Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC (DIST) were next in line volume wise with 887,600 shares, 162,200 shares and 94,600 shares respectively.
Other notable contributors turnover wise include DIST with Rs. 10.35 Mn, Cargills (Ceylon) PLC (CARG) with Rs. 9.90 Mn and Commercial Bank PLC (COMB) with Rs. 7.09 Mn. Price losers outnumbered price gainers numbering 71 to 40.
Foreigners were more prominent on buying side to bring a net inflow of Rs. 16.73 Mn.
