Mar 06, Colombo: A Tamil National Alliance parliamentarian was killed this afternoon in a roadside claymore attack that targeted his vehicle in uncleared areas in Kanagarayakulam in Puliyankulam, party officials said.
Reports said that Jaffna district TNA MP K. Sivanesan was going to his residence at Mallavi with his driver, who was also killed in the attack.
Meanwhile, pro-LTTE Tamilnet charged the military’s deep penetration unit for the attack. However, the military vehemently denied the allegation and claimed that it was a work of the LTTE.
Sivanesan was elected to Sri Lanka's parliament from the TNA in the April 2004 parliamentary election.
