Mar 27, Colombo: Sri Lanka recorded a 121-run victory over West Indies in the opening Test on Wednesday at Guyana, registering the first ever Test victory by Sri Lanka on the Caribbean soil.
Fast bowler Chaminda Vaas captured five wickets for 61 runs from 22.2 Overs and Muttiah Muralitharan took three for 112 from 45 overs, and dismissed West Indies for 315 in their second innings with 5.4 overs remaining in the match. West Indies was chasing 437 runs for victory.
Sri Lanka leads 1-0 in the two-Test series. The second Test starts on April 3 at Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.
