* Saudi Arabia to back Sri Lanka health sector development

Mar 27, Colombo: Sri Lanka Health Ministry said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has agreed to provide 86 million Saudi riyal (Approximately 2.8 billion rupees) to build a Epilepsy Hospital and a Neuro-Trauma centre at the Colombo National Hospital.

The funds are to be provided by the Saudi Funds for Development as a soft loan of 75 million riyal to build the Epilepsy Hospital and as a supplementary loan of 11 million riyal to build the Neuro- Trauma centre.

The new Epilepsy hospital will accommodate 242 beds with incentive care and in-patient care units. Also the project includes a construction of 7 storied building within the premises of the National Hospital and setting up of all modern medical equipment such as MRI, CT scanners and X-ray machines.
