Mar 25, Colombo: Minister of Public Administration Karu Jayasuriya yesterday said that the government is considering holding a single exam to recruit fresh undergraduates for the public sector.

Speaking at a special discussion held at his Ministry with chief ministers and governors of all provinces yesterday, the Minister said that the present system of conducting separate exams each for the Civil Service, Scientific Services, Health Services, Agricultural Services, Accountancy, and Engineering etc had caused 41 million rupees last year.

Minister Jayasuriya said that the approval for the new measure would be obtained after discussing with all parties concerned.
