Mar 25, Trincomalee: The Sri Lanka Navy intercepted a boat movement by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) off Nayaru in the northeastern coastal waters early this morning.
According to Navy sources, one Tiger boat was damaged in the sea confrontation that occurred around 1 AM. The Navy suffered no damage in the incident, sources added.
Meanwhile, Army sources said that 12 Tigers were killed in yesterday’s clashes at the Mannar and Vavuniya battlefronts. One soldier was killed and four others suffered injuries during these battles.
Also, Army personnel uncovered 1000 rounds of ammunition used for T-56 rifles after a clash that erupted in the Mannar area, sources added.
