Mar 25, Colombo: The inaugural ceremony of the National Solid Waste Material Management Programme "Pilisaru", jointly organized by the Environment & Natural Resources Ministry and the Environment Development Authority was held on March 24, under the auspices of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the President's Office.

The President released the "Pilisaru" Logo and presented awards to local government institutions that actively participated in solid waste management.

The Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Champika Ranawaka, Central Environment Authority Chairman Udaya Gammanpila, Chief Ministers of North Central and Central Provinces and local government heads also participated in the event.
