Sri Lanka::
* Muslim victims of Tamil Tiger ethnic cleansing in Sri Lanka to form political party
Tuesday, March 25, 2008, 11:29 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Mar 25, Puttlam: Muslim civilians who survived mass ethnic cleansing campaigns by the Tamil Tigers during 1990s and who are living in refugee camps in Puttalm district at present plan to form a political party.

The sources close to the new political move said that this measure is to be taken to find solution to the problems faced by the large number of Muslims living in the refugee camps or with their relatives for the past 18 years.

According to the sources none of the political parties are concerned over their plight or interested in taking action against the injustice that they were subjected at the hands of Tamil Tigers. So called humanitarian organizations and NGOs that always clamour against a humanitarian crisis in the country have been purposely ignoring the atrocities committed against the Muslims by the Tamil Tigers, the sources added.

Over 90,000 Muslims were forced to leave their homes in Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi within 24 hours by the Tamil Tigers in 1990. Tens and thousands of others were killed in bloody ethnic cleansing raids and mass executions at Muslim Villages and Mosques by the Tamil Tigers both in North and Eastern provinces during the past two and half decades.
