Mar 24, Colombo: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka, who arrived in Israel on Sunday, held talks with his Israel counterpart Ehud Olmert today.
During his four-day official visit, Premier Wickramanayaka is scheduled to meet Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and President Shimon Peres, and travel to the West Bank for talks with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
Sri Lankan PM visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem, and then the city of Sderot. This is the first visit by a Sri Lankan premier to Israel.
Sri Lanka renewed diplomatic relations with Israel in 2000. Having supplied Sri Lanka with planes, ships and know-how Israel has a strong military relationship with Sri Lanka.
