Mar 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka Muslim Congress yesterday demanded the chief minister post if it to render its support to any of the major political parties in the coming provincial council polls in the Eastern Province.
In a special discussion held with the participation of party representatives in Colombo yesterday, SLMC also said that it wants former minister Supreme Council Member M.L.A.M. Hisbulla to be appointed as the Chief Minister of the East.
According to the SLMC sources, majority of its representatives had expressed their consent to contest as a single party at the election. However, the senior members of the party had highlighted the need for a coalition with a major party in order to get more political power, the sources added.
