Mar 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa yesterday vowed to provide security to journalists if necessary but claimed that the government is not ready to act on statements made by politicians.
Speaking to local media, the Secretary has said that his duty is not only to protect journalists but also to protect the lives and property of all the citizens of the country.
Commenting on the attack on Sri Lanka Rupawahini Corporation Trade Union Leader Anurasiri Hettige, Defense Secretary said that he had no knowledge that there would be an attack on Hettige.
