Mar 18, Colombo: The local government representatives elected in the polls held for Batticaloa District recently were sworn in before Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

Ms. Sivageetha Prabakaran of TMVP who obtained the highest number of preferential votes in the polls presented her affidavit to the President. President awarded 2.5 Million rupees to each local government Institution while each local government member was given one million rupees to purchase a motorcycle.
