Mar 11, Mannar: Sri Lanka Army soldiers, continuing their quest to liberate the Wanni region from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), this morning captured a heavily fortified LTTE stronghold north of Giant Tank on the Mannar battlefront.

According to defence sources, at least four Tigers were killed and the rest have retreated.

Following the attack, the troops also dominated a tactically important shrubbery area about 500 meters beyond the newly captured Tiger stronghold, sources said.

The battle to liberate Wanni is in progress, they added.
