July 08, Colombo: Major General Parakrama Pannipitiya filed a petition of fundamental right violation at the Supreme Courts of Colombo today.

His petition seeks a directive to be issued to the Ministry of Defence in Sri Lanka to provide him with necessary security.

Major General Pannipitiya was the key military officer who directed the liberation of LTTE’s Eastern stronghold Toppigala a year ago.

Pannipitiya filed a fundamental rights (FR) petition in the Supreme Court in February 2008 against the Army Commander Lt. General Sarath Fonseka for stripping of his security contingent putting his life in great danger.
