July 05, Colombo: Deputy Speaker of Sri Lanka parliament Gitanjana Gunawardena has resigned from his post yesterday.

Mr. Gunawardena had tendered his resignation to the Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara, informed sources revealed.

In his resignation Mr. Gunawardena has cited political ethics as the reason for the resignation.
