* 39 civilians seek military protection in Welioya

July 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka military said that 39 persons belonging to thirteen families in the Mullaitivu district arrived at Pulmudai in Welioya and sought military protection.

The group had twenty-six males and thirteen females, including a few children. Those civilians have come on foot for miles through jungles before they boarded some vehicles, according to the escapees.

The civilians have been sent to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, the military said.
